Inspiration

I took a trip to Waterstones today to get some inspiration. I was in there a fair while just browsing.
I looked at 'How to be a graphic designer without losing your soul' as recommended by tutors and a few people on the course. I wasn't expecting so many words! I thought it'd be a good idea looking at it today, since as group of us done our presentations and were still fresh in my mind. I looked into promoting myself and whatnot. There's some pretty useful information in there! Rather impressed I was.

I also looked at logo books. I needed some inspiration for my own designs. I cam away with some good ideas which I've been playing around with.

Existing museum logos

I decided to pick my 'Brand that Museum' brief to take forward.
I've chosen the Museum of Garden History to focus on as they are a small museum in London, and could do with some advertising.

I've been looking at existing logos for various other museums, just to see the kind of style's used. There's a lot of type used within the logos, which I'm glad to see. A fair bit of illustration too, although I won't be touching on that too much.

I particularly like the Akron Art Museum logo. How the 'AAM' has been incorporated within it is fascinating and inspiring.
